About The Art

The purpose of "Art" is to take you beyond reality......

Here in Mexico my work has evolved to consist of mainly abstract expressionist works in oil on canvas. The works on these pages represent my most recent work, done since May of 2021 when I arrived in Mexico.

About The Artist

I was born in Stockholm, Sweden and immigrated to the United States at the age of 5 with my parents and brother.

My mother was an artist who exposed me to the world of the arts and artists while I was growing up in Southern California. Her artist friends, and visits to their studios, were a regular part of my days gowning up. In the mid sixtys my parents opened the "Art Cellar", a gallery of fine art in Claremont, CA.

Helping out at the gallery I was exposed to many of the great California plien air artists of the 60’s, including Phil Dike, Milford Zornes, Betty Davenpot Ford, Nag Arnoldi and Millard Sheets.

I sold my first painting in 1968 – for $10. By 1982 I had married and opened a poster and frame shop in Venice Beach, CA. It was during this period that I published my first posters under the Speedway Graphics banner.

In 2010 my wife and I gave up apartment living and the beach life and moved from Santa Monica, to The Woodlands, Texas. Here I finally had  the space for my very own studio for the first time and for the next 10 years I honed my painting skill in Texas.

In 2021 my wife and I reloated again, to San Miguel de Allende in central Mexico. We are both retired now and have an in-home studio where I paint.
