About The Art

If "art" means anything to me it is that there are endless ways to represent your surroundings or thoughts visually, so to restrict one self to only one technique, medium or style seems like a expressive straight jacket to me.

Therefore I am always drawn to the challenge of expressing different subject matter using different techniques.

The works on these pages represent some of my most recent works and are only a small slice of the various styles and techniques I have explored over the years.

A click on this PRINTS link will lead you to additional images from prior years that have been done in gouache, watercolor, collage and even photography. Since the originals of these images have been sold I am offering them as affordable prints.

I view my art as a series of chapters that reflect on various periods in my life.

About The Artist

I was born in Stockholm, Sweden and immigrated to the United States at the age of 5 with my parents and brother.

My mother was an artist who unwittingly exposed me to the world of the arts and artists. Her artist friends, and visits to their studios, were a regular part of my days gowning up. My parents eventually opened a fine art gallery in Claremont, CA called the Art Cellar. At the gallery I was exposed to many of the great California artists of the 60’s, including Phil Dike, Milford Zornes, Betty Davenpot Ford, Nag Arnoldi and Millard Sheets.

I sold my first painting in 1968 – for $10. By 1982 I had married and opened a poster and frame shop in Venice Beach, CA. It was during this period that I published my first posters under the Speedway Graphics banner.

In 2010 my wife and I gave up the beach life and moved from Santa Monica, to The Woodlands, Texas, where I now have the space for my very own studio for the first time.
